How you can choose the best fixtures!

Choosing fixtures for your home can be exhausting! (If you’ve ever visited a lighting store, you know exactly what I’m talking about 😅)⁣First, let’s review the three different types of lighting:⁣⁣1. Ambient lighting: the main source of light in a room (think overhead fixtures or recessed lighting).⁣2. Task lighting: the lighting “tasked” for activities such as working or reading (meant to illuminate a small area; not an entire room).⁣3. Accent lighting: the most decorative lighting in a room (think chandeliers, sconces, and lamps).⁣⁣As you plan, remember most rooms have two types of lighting—some all three. Make a list of the rooms in your home and the different types of lighting you need. Then, you can shop with clarity and purpose even amidst the blinding lights.⁣

Pantry Hack!

Get your pantry in tip top shape with these quick tips:⁣⁣•Empty your pantry and place everything on the counters so you can have a good look at what you’ve got.⁣•Check expiration dates, throw away misfits, toss anything that’s stale.⁣•Group what’s left into categories (canned goods, dry goods, snacks, spices, cereal, etc.)⁣•Use baskets to store like categories.⁣•Place your most used items at eye level and consider a designated “snack basket” for those hungry kids.⁣⁣Got a tried and true pantry hack? Improve your home value with little or no cost!

Low budget = high impact!! Here are some things you can do to improve your home value, with little or no cost: Curb appeal – No question that shrubs and colorful plants will add curb appeal to any home, but when shopping at your local garden center, make sure that you “think green.” Purchase plants that are native to your region or plants that are drought-tolerant; these require less water and maintenance, which means more savings to you and more green in your wallet. Bathroom upgrades – Bathroom updates are always a smart move. Even if you can’t afford a full remodel, small changes such as replacing dated wallpaper with a faux or textured finish and replacing old lighting fixtures will update the room without denting your wallet. Small details – Not every home improvement is cosmetic. Deteriorating roofs, termite infestation, or outdated electrical systems — you can’t fix it if you don’t know it’s broken. Hire an inspector to check out the areas of your home that you don’t normally see. Fresh paint – One of the simplest, most cost-effective improvements of all is paint! Freshly painted rooms look clean and updated or painted cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom can give a newly updated look! Love Where You Live
