Things to Do in Phoenix in February

Moving to Arizona Casey Walag January 29, 2025

February is one of the best times of the year to be in Phoenix! With mild temperatures, sunshine, and a full calendar of events, it’s the perfect month to get outside and explore. Whether you're a local or thinking about making Phoenix your home, here are some of the top things to do in the Valley this February.

1. Enjoy the Perfect Hiking Weather

With average highs in the 70s, February is ideal for hitting the trails. Popular hiking spots include:

  • Camelback Mountain – A challenging climb with stunning city views.

  • Piestewa Peak – A favorite for locals looking for a workout with a reward.

  • Papago Park – An easier hike with iconic rock formations, great for families.

  • South Mountain Park – One of the largest city parks in the U.S., offering trails for all skill levels.

2. Attend the Waste Management Phoenix Open (Feb 5-11, 2024)

Known as “The Greatest Show on Grass,” the WM Phoenix Open is one of the most exciting golf tournaments in the world. The 16th hole is legendary for its rowdy atmosphere, and the event draws thousands of fans every year. Even if you’re not a big golf fan, the tournament is a fantastic social event with live music and plenty of entertainment.

3. Experience the Arabian Horse Show (Feb 15-25, 2024)

Held at WestWorld of Scottsdale, the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show is one of the premier equestrian events in the country. Featuring over 2,000 horses, the show offers competitions, shopping, and a glimpse into the beauty of these majestic animals.

4. Visit the Arizona Renaissance Festival (Weekends, Feb 3 - March 31, 2024)

Step back in time at the Arizona Renaissance Festival in Gold Canyon, just east of Phoenix. Enjoy jousting, medieval feasts, artisan crafts, and hilarious stage performances. It’s a fun event for families, couples, and anyone looking to experience something unique.

5. Celebrate Arizona Beer Week (Feb 15-24, 2024)

If you love craft beer, February is the perfect time to explore Phoenix’s thriving brewery scene. Arizona Beer Week features tastings, tap takeovers, and special events at breweries across the state. Be sure to check out local favorites like Four Peaks, Wren House, and Huss Brewing.

6. See Spring Training Kick Off

While Cactus League baseball officially starts in late February, teams begin arriving earlier in the month. This is your chance to catch a glimpse of MLB stars as they warm up for the season. With stadiums all over the Valley, spring training is a must for baseball fans.

7. Enjoy the Street Art & Murals in Roosevelt Row

If you love art, head to Roosevelt Row in downtown Phoenix. This vibrant arts district is home to incredible murals, local galleries, and the popular First Fridays Art Walk (held on the first Friday of every month). Strolling through the area is a great way to soak in Phoenix’s creative culture.

8. Take a Day Trip to See Wildflowers in Bloom

February is the beginning of wildflower season in Arizona, with colorful blooms popping up in the desert. Some of the best spots to see them include:

  • Lost Dutchman State Park – Known for its golden poppies against the backdrop of the Superstition Mountains.

  • Picacho Peak State Park – A stunning display of yellow and orange wildflowers along the trails.

  • White Tank Mountains – Beautiful trails with a mix of desert wildflowers.
